DAVID AMOS

TOUR STOP #5

I’ve been making and building things my whole life. On top of that I’ve become an avid wood collector. Living by the shore for the last 33 years have given me the opportunity learn about how we live with wood. Different species of woods and methods, to create long lasting purpose and aesthetics. I gather raw logs, branches, slabs and other urban and rural salvage, mill them to certain thicknesses and cuts, and then store and dry in a outdoor to indoor process that takes numerous years. All of my “ready to go” wood is stored in dry heated space.

The theme of live edge at this point is still a fun genre which lends itself well to my collection of raw cut & salvaged wood. On the other hand having the ability to use the same raw wood and mill it dimensionally for different methods, finished look & purpose is a real sweet spot for my creativity and capacity. I also access commercial supplies for specific design cabinetry and other construction projects.

Creating one of a kind spaces, buildings, cabinetry, furniture, home living and functional art pieces has been a thrill – always with a new build or project right around the corner.
